Update March 16, 2023 at 8:30 pm ET - Fiat cash out has been disabled effective immediately. Click here for more details.

Prerequisites

There are a few prerequisites before starting the process of requesting a cash out:

  • Once you top up your account, topped up funds are never available for withdrawal or Cash Out. You can learn more about Top Up here
  • RECUR does not support the use of intermediary banks to receive your Cash Out wire transfer. For more information on intermediary banks, see banks not currently supported
  • To check if Cash Out is available in your country, see our Supported Countries and Payment Methods
  • Contact your bank to confirm they do not use an intermediary, that they agree to receive blockchain related payments, and ask about their fees for receiving an incoming wire in USD.

Verify that your bank does not restrict your account from receiving blockchain related transactions.

Some banks will hold or refuse blockchain related payments. Should this occur, RECUR will attempt to retrieve the funds for you. However, this may take several weeks for RECUR to retrieve your funds if this happens, and the receiving bank may not release them back to RECUR at all. Additional fees may be charged by the refusing bank. Please be sure to check with your bank to be certain they accept these types of payments before submitting your Cash Out.

Complete the KYC Requirement

In order to begin the process of cashing out, you will need to get your account verified by going through RECUR’s KYC process. Learn more about the KYC process here

After submitting your information, you will be able to move onto the next step in the Cash Out process, adding your bank account information.

Add Your Bank Account Information

In order to process your Cash Out payment, you will need to link a bank account legally owned by you to your RECUR account. Once this information is added you will be able to use this information again in the future.

You may add multiple bank accounts if you desire as long as they are legally owned by you.

Make sure your bank supports incoming wire transfers. We strongly recommend using the bank's specific wire instructions.

If any of this information is mistyped or incorrect, your cash out will either immediately fail or be returned to you after a 2-3 week period.

If you want to delete a bank account from your account, please contact us here.

Each cash out request that results in a failure or return will incur additional fees on your RECUR balance. Please see more about fees here.

Cash Out Amount & Fees

Fees

RECUR uses a payment provider to process your Cash Out transaction. The payment provider charges a $25 fee to process each request which will need to be paid by you when making the Cash Out request. This $25 fee is required to initiate the Cash Out and will be charged even if the wire is eventually returned or fails.

Neither RECUR nor our payment provider charges any additional fees for failed or returned wire transfers. However many banks do charge a fee for returning a wire. This fee varies from bank to bank. In the event a failed or returned wire fee is incurred, the amount is subtracted from your Cash Out before it is sent back to RECUR.

It is likely that your bank will charge a fee to receive an incoming wire transfer. Our wires are sent in USD, and they may also charge a fee to convert from USD to your local currency. You should check with your bank directly regarding their fees.

RECUR does not make any money on these fees. These fees simply cover our service provider’s cost.

As mentioned elsewhere in this article, in the event multiple cash out requests result in failures or returns each failure may incur additional fees.

Minimum Amount

Updated: July 25, 2022

For wire transfers, the minimum amount you can cash out is now $75 minus the $25 fees. For wires, we have required this minimum amount to account for both the outgoing fee of $25, and any additional fees that your bank may charge for incoming wire transfers.

Additional cash out options that do not require a minimum amount may be available in the future.

Cash Out Timeframe

For Cash Out transactions with US destinations, your Cash Out transactions should complete within 5 business days. This timeline may vary depending on your banking institution.

For Cash Out transactions with global destinations, your Cash Out transactions should complete within 10 business days. This timeline may vary depending on your banking institution.

If you are experiencing a timeframe longer than this, please contact us so we may help.

Weekends

If a Cash Out occurs on a weekend, it will begin processing the next business day.  For example, if you request your Cash Out transaction on a Saturday morning (ET), it will not go out to the bank until Monday morning (ET).

Emails

  • You will receive email receipts during your Cash Out transaction at the following times:
    • When the cash out has started
    • When the cash out fails or is returned
    • When the cash out has been successfully confirmed

You will receive an email when your Cash Out successfully confirms on RECUR’s end. This means your wire is still in progress. You will need to verify with your bank to confirm when they have received the funds.

External Reference ID

Cash out confirmation emails will contain an External Reference ID (An IMAD/OMAD number) that you can provide to your bank to trace wire transfers. This is a unique number given to each payment and can be used to investigate and track wire transfers.

The IMAD/OMAD number is created with the following information:

Example Number:
YYYYMMDDXXXXXXXX012345

In the example number, YYYYMMDD or MMDD specifies the wire transfer date, xxxxxxxx specifies the source of the wire, and the last six digits are the sequence number.

Providing this information to your bank will enable them to search for your Cash Out in their system.

Other Notes about Cash Out

  • One cash out at a time. You may only have 1 cash out occurring at any given time.
  • Give your bank a heads up about large cash outs. We do not have a maximum limit for the total amount you can cash out, however, if you intend to cash out more than $5,000, it may be worth connecting with your bank to give them a heads up about payments.
  • Billing descriptors. On your bank statement, you will likely see mention of “Silvergate Bank/Circle” or something similar. There will be no mention of RECUR.
  • Other forms of Cash Out. RECUR plans to have another form of cashing out in 2022. Please join our Discord to stay tuned to product announcements.
